Strategic  Objective  Caring

This is how clients and colleagues describe
Mary Beth Barrett-Newman, the founder and President of 2nd Career Consulting.

She is an experienced executive, coach and mentor having spent the first 30 years of her “1st” career in the financial services and consulting industries. Currently she works primarily with professional women who, after taking a career break, have decided to re-enter the workforce. In addition to this unique niche, Mary Beth also coaches both women and men looking to make career changes as well as recent college grads.

Throughout her career Mary Beth’s energy and can-do attitude enabled her to lead areas of responsibility as varied as Sales, Financial Analysis, IT and Client Administration. While overseeing these groups, her responsibilities included coaching, recruiting, training, and managing. In addition, she mentored a number of younger professionals on career and work/family balance issues.

It was from these experiences that Mary Beth found a love for coaching and mentoring that led to the creation of 2nd Career Consulting.

In addition to her career experience, Mary Beth has an MBA in Finance from DePaul University, a BA in Business Administration from Augustana College. She is also certified in Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI) and is a Strong Interest Inventory® Administrator.  She has held series 6 and 63 securities license and Illinois life insurance license.  Mary Beth is also a Volunteer Advisor at the Career Resource Center in Lake Forest, IL and well as the founder of the Job Search Networking Group at  St. Athanasius Parish in Evanston, IL.
